Auburn Career Center Announces Deanna Elsing as New Director of Secondary Education

Auburn Career Center is proud to announce the hiring of Deanna Elsing as the district’s new Director of Secondary Education. Elsing brings extensive experience in Career Technical Education leadership, workforce development, innovative programming, and student support services to the Auburn team.

Elsing currently serves as Associate Principal of Innovative & Consortium Programming at Mayfield
City Schools, where she has played a leading role in expanding career-readiness opportunities and
strengthening partnerships between education and industry. During her time at Mayfield, she founded the
Learn & Earn Workforce Development Program, designed to connect students directly with career
experiences and workforce opportunities.

In her current role, Elsing oversees online learning programs and career-readiness initiatives, directs the
Mayfield High School Counseling Department, and serves as the district-wide leader for workforce
development and military pathways. She also governs the Excel TECC 10-school Career Technical
Education consortium, which serves more than 1,500 students, and previously administered CEVEC, a
vocational program supporting students with disabilities ages 17-22. Her leadership efforts also resulted
in securing more than $100,000 in donations to support innovative student programming.

Prior to joining Mayfield, Elsing served as Administrator for the Northern Career Institute at
Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools from 2017 through 2022. In that role, she directed the Bridge to
Success high school dropout prevention program serving more than 170 students, led the Success
Academy middle school career-prep program, and managed seven Career Technical Education programs
serving more than 175 students.

Elsing’s dedication to student achievement and educational leadership earned statewide recognition
when she was named Ohio Assistant Principal of the Year last year.

“Auburn Career Center continues to focus on expanding opportunities for students while strengthening
the connection between education and workforce readiness,” said Dr. Joe Glavan, Superintendent of
Auburn Career Center. “Deanna’s experience in Career Technical Education, innovative programming,
and student-centered leadership makes her an outstanding addition to our administrative team. Her
passion for supporting students and creating meaningful career pathways aligns perfectly with Auburn’s
mission and vision for the future.”

Glavan added, “Deanna has demonstrated throughout her career an ability to build strong programs,
develop partnerships, and support students at all levels. We are excited to welcome her to Auburn Career
Center and look forward to the positive impact she will have on our students, staff, and member
districts.”

Elsing expressed excitement about joining Auburn Career Center and continuing to support Career
Technical Education opportunities for students throughout the region.

“I am honored to join Auburn Career Center and become part of an organization so deeply committed to
student success and workforce development,” said Elsing. “Career Technical Education creates
life-changing opportunities for students, and I look forward to working alongside Auburn’s outstanding
staff, students, and partner districts to continue expanding those opportunities.”

Elsing will officially begin her role as Director of Secondary Education later this summer.
